Donald J. Settina, CFP®, AIFA®, PPC™
President and CEO

Donald J. Settina is an industry veteran with more than 25 years of experience in the financial planning arena and retirement plan market. He is a founding partner of Financial Service Standards, LLC, and is the principal of a top-producing financial planning practice in the South Hills of Pittsburgh.

Don is the author of The 401k Service Solution™ Handbook for Plan Sponsors and Fiduciaries and teaches The 401k Service Training Program™ at Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh.

Vice-President and COO

Sharon Pivirotto, co-founder of Financial Service Standards LLC, has more than 10 years of financial industry experience. Formerly licensed as a securities and insurance professional, she successfully ran an investment office for a national firm. Sharon started her own company in 2002 and teamed up with Don Settina in 2005 to formalize and teach The 401k Service Training Program™ to industry service professionals.

A military veteran who served four years on active duty in the U.S. Army, she is active in her community and has held numerous positions, including President of the Oakmont, Pa., Rotary Club, and board member in the local Chamber of Commerce and Women’s Club of Oakmont.

Sharon is the author of The Critics Guide to Winning the Investment Game, and is the driving force behind the development of the solutions created at FSS.

Cynthia Makowski
Office Manager and CFO

Cindy Makowski is the Office Manager and CFO for FSS. She joined FSS while also serving as the Director for Don Settina, Inc. Before that, she served with ADP (Automatic Data Processing) for 19 years, where her most recent positions were Account Executive and Employee Trainer in their payroll - employer services division.

Cindy has a BSBA in Accounting from Robert Morris University.


Specialist Team

Barbara Thuel
Project Manager

Barbara is our lead project manager responsible for all aspects of project development and oversight, including assisting with writing and implementing marketing campaigns, website management, event planning, and project budget management.

Barbara joins us with more than 10 years of Financial Industry Project Management experience, including spearheading many of Mellon Bank’s marketing and promotional campaigns. Barb has a B.A. in Journalism from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and an M.B.A. from Duquesne University.

Jean Webster
Project Graphic Artist

Jean is our lead designer and developer our three websites. She is also responsible for the look and feel and layout of the visual components of our FSS brand including all marketing pieces. As a graphic artist, her expertise lies in creating graphics, logos, templates, and publication layout.

Jean’s background includes more than 15 years of marketing and graphic design experience, including running her own marketing and graphic design firm. Jean has a B.A. in Graphic Design and Illustration from Western Washington University.
